Dog Walker Education

June 27, 2026 — Education

Before I started by pet care business, I took the time to educate myself about the industry through research and taking online courses provided by the organization Pet Sitters International (PSI). I’ve completed numerous courses that covered pet behavior, client relations, pet safety, service offers etc. I’ve also received a certificate in pet CPR from the American Red Cross. This work has contributed to the high-quality, caring and informed service that I provide to my clients. When a client hires me, they are paying for more than my time. They receive a personalized service built upon my thorough education which separates me from other providers who provide just the basics. My education happily continues and will never end.

May 30, 2026 — Connection

There is often an unspoken connection that can form between a person and a pet. I have had the privilege to pet sit for a handsome Bernese dog named Indy (see photo) for over 10 months. Perhaps I’m projecting, but I can see in his eyes a sense of awareness and affection for me. And I look at him with a similar gaze, and a warm smile, that communicates to him that he is safe with me and cared for. We don’t give our pets enough credit with how emotionally intelligent they are. Indy’s owner has told me that when he’s sitting next to her on the couch, she’ll whisper “Sean is coming today.” After hearing this, he runs to stand by the door and wait. That’s a true connection.
